About Nikka From The Barrel

Created in 1985 Takeshi Taketsuru, the second master blender for Nikka Whisky company and Masataka Taketsuru-sama’s adopted son and nephew, this dram was designed to give whisky drinkers the experience blenders have of taking samples directly from the cask. Hence the name “From the Barrel.” A heady mix of Nikka’s own grain whisky, a Sherrie’s dram from Miyagikyo distillery in Sendai, and a punchy and complex weighty dram from Yoichi in northern Hokkaido, From the Barrel is one of the most iconic things to come out of Japan’s economic boom. Equally at home on a back bar as it is a whisky club this bridges sipability with mixability. Nothing punches quite like this dram.
